15th Annual JAGA Scholarship Golf Classic raises more than $17,000

The Jacksonville Area Golf Association (JAGA) raised more than $17,000 at its 15th annual Scholarship Golf Classic on Oct. 30 at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. The event, which was sponsored by Nader’s Pest Raiders, featured 87 golfers participating in a four-man scramble on a day that started out chilly but gave way to a beautiful, cloudless North Florida afternoon.

The money raised supports JAGA’s Scholarship Trust program, which currently provides financial aid to 27 students who attend 15 different colleges in Florida and elsewhere. Since the trust was formed in 1974, JAGA has awarded approximately $1.7 million to more than 300 area students aspiring to earn college degrees.

Former JAGA president Adair Roberts (2014-15) of the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club chaired the event, with Randy Nader of Sawgrass Country Club serving as his co-chair. The event was launched by another former JAGA president, the late Bill Black (1993-94), and carries on in his honor today.

Joining Nader’s Pest Raiders as patrons of the Classic were Dan and Brenda Davis, Gerri and John Hayt, Julie and Michael McKenny, Marty and Miles King, Cindy B. Bohn/CPA and the Roberts Family. In addition, there were 23 hole sponsors.
