57th Jacksonville Amateur Championship to be held July 20-22

The 57th Jacksonville Amateur Championship conducted by Jacksonville Area Golf Association (JAGA) will take place this coming weekend at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.

To be held July 20-22, the event will feature a full field of 78 contestants, the majority of whom live in North Florida. Of the 78 registered players, 32 have handicap indexes of 0 or less. Only 14 of the indexes are 3.0 or higher. JAGA directors Jeff Adams and John Milton are serving as the chairmen of the event.

There are 21 teenagers in the field, with the youngest being a trio of 16-year-olds —Daniel Murphy of Ponte Vedra Beach and Ford Chandler and Rowen Parker, both of Atlantic Beach. The most senior players in the field are David Anthony (63), co-chairman John Milton (63) of Jacksonville, Ken Dye (62) of Ponte Vedra Beach and David Mobley (61) of Jacksonville.

In 2017, U Minn Woon (Jacksonville/St. Johns Golf & Country Club) defeated Jeff Golden (Jacksonville) and Graham Nichols (Jacksonville/Timuquana Country Club) by four shots, posting rounds of 72-70-70—212 (-4) at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club.
