The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and St. Johns County will host a series of community outreach meetings regarding recently proposed floodplain map updates.

Meetings will be held on the following dates:

• August 31, 4 to 7 p.m. – St. Johns County Permit Center, 4040 Lewis Speedway

• September 1, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, 1050 A1A North

• September 1, 4 to 7 p.m. – Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, 1050 A1A North

Community officials, FEMA representatives, and insurance professionals will be available to answer questions regarding the proposed updates and the flood zone appeal process.

Released in May, the proposed updates are based on results of a recent floodplain study. As a result, portions of the county may have new flood zone designations, which can impact homeowner flood insurance policies and rates.
