A Ponte Vedra woman driving with two children in her vehicle is facing charges after causing several hit-and-run crashes in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia on Thursday afternoon.

Brandy Stroud Gleaton, 33, was taken into custody by the Georgia State Patrol in Camden County after allegedly striking eight vehicles in Florida and two in Georgia. According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, Gleaton was booked on two charges of DUI-endangering a child under 14 years of age, DUI-driving under the influence of drugs and a seat belt violation (children 5 years of age and less). Authorities are withholding the names of the children pending further investigation into their identities and location of family.

Florida Highway Patrol officers began receiving multiple reports at 3:30 p.m. Thursday of hit-and-run collisions caused by a 2007 GMC Yukon heading east on Interstate 295 and then north on Interstate 95 into Nassau County. Unable to locate the vehicle in Florida, FHP troopers shared the information with the Georgia State Patrol, as well as the Camden County Sheriff’s Office. Camden County deputies intercepted Gleaton’s vehicle in the area of the five-mile marker on I-95 and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, when Gleaton struck a Camden County patrol vehicle. Georgia State Patrol officers subsequently took her into custody at the seven-mile marker.

Jail records state that Gleaton is being held in the Camden County Public Safety Complex on a $4,552 bond.
