On Nov. 29, Underwood Jewelers hosted a Roberto Coin Trunk Show and check presentation for the Pink Ribbon Golf Classic. Highlights included a cocktail party and check presentations to Baptist Medical Center Beaches & Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville

Ten percent of the proceeds from all sales at the Roberto Coin Trunk Show are donated to The Pink Ribbon Golf Classic.

The Pink Ribbon Golf Classic is an all-volunteer, non-profit event that was created to raise funds for local breast cancer research and related services at Baptist Medical Center Beaches and Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville. In our community alone, over 500 women and men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. As volunteers, we are working to support both of these institutions with a goal of raising at least $150,000 in 2015.

By reaching their fundraising goal in 2014 the Pink Ribbon Classic helped Baptist Medical Center Beaches purchase bi-directional dopplers used in breast reconstruction to repair cells damaged by radiation, purchase new mammography/MRI gowns, cover medical costs incurred by breast cancer patients not covered by health insurance, and underwrite an educational forum on the hereditary risk of breast and ovarian cancers, their connection and how it led to the discovery of the BRCA 1 & 2 gene mutations. The 2014 contribution to Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville helped support the ground-breaking Breast Cancer Translational Genomics Guided Therapy Study (BEAUTY Project). This project is a national, genetic clinical trial designed to help researchers and physicians better understand the role genetics play in breast cancer treatment so that they can develop more personalized therapies for breast cancer patients now and in the future.
