Underwood's aids 'House of Cards' actress

As Secretary of State Catherine Durant on the popular Netflix series “House of Cards,” Jayne Atkinson has both schemed and sparred with political power couple, the Underwoods.

So perhaps it’s no surprise that on a recent trip to Ponte Vedra to visit family, the actress turned to Underwood’s Jewelers to find just the right ornaments to adorn the gown she’ll wear to next month’s Emmy Awards.

Atkinson visited Underwood’s Aug. 20 accompanied by her sister, Dany Atkinson, who lives in Ponte Vedra.

“Dany is my personal dresser for the SAG Awards and the Emmy Awards and other events,” Atkinson said as she prepared to peruse Underwood’s offerings. “I rely on her to help me with all my dresses and jewelry and shoes.”

It was her sister, Atkinson added, who introduced her to the Dao Fournier jewelry collection featured at Underwood’s. Created by Ponte Vedra resident Lucy Price and her twin sister, Kimberly Gibson, the collection features bold, geometric designs featuring diamonds, yellow and white gold, quartz and more.

“I wore some (Dao Fournier) jewelry to the Meridian Ball in Washington DC,” Atkinson noted.

Price, who was on hand to assist Atkinson in selecting her jewelry, said the actress’s visit was well-timed.

“I’m thrilled to have a chance to meet Jayne and show her some of our newest pieces coming in for fall,” she said.

Aided by Price and the Underwood’s staff, Atkinson ultimately selected two Dao Fournier rings and a pair of earrings to wear to the Emmy Awards, which will be presented Sunday, Sept. 18 and broadcast live on ABC.

“I’m so pleased that Underwood’s was able to help Jayne prepare for such an important event,” Manager John Rutkowski said.
