Apex Theatre Studio Inc., in partnership with the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, will present its second annual spring musical, “High School Musical,” on Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28, at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall.

Disney Channel's smash hit movie musical comes to life onstage as Troy, Gabriella and the students of “East High” must deal with issues of first love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extracurricular activities.

“We had such a wonderful response to last year's production of ‘The Lion King (Jr.),’ it made sense to keep the Disney vibe going,” said Ian Mairs, managing director of Apex Theatre Studio.

The show features performers between the ages of 11-18 from a wide range of area schools including Ponte Vedra High School, Landrum Middle School, Palmer Catholic Acadmey, Nease High School, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and Lavilla School of the Arts.

"For a certain generation of young people, this show's songs and dance numbers are ingrained in their hearts and minds on a cellular level thanks to countless viewings of the original television production," said David Loudermilk, the show's artistic director and choreographer.

Showtimes are 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27, and 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 28. The approximate running time is two hours, with one 15-minute intermission. Tickets are $25 (reserved seating) and available for purchase at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall and St. Augustine Amphitheatre Box Offices, ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets and by phone at (800) 745-3000.
