Ballet Palm Beach, the professional ballet company of the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast, will soon travel to St. Augustine for a mixed bill performance at Flagler College’s Lewis Auditorium on Saturday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m.

The evening will open with Balanchine's “Who Cares?” Set to music by George Gershwin, the ballet evokes the exuberance of New York City with romantic pas de deux, syncopated group numbers and virtuosic solos. Next on the bill is “The List,” by former Alvin Ailey dancer and choreographer Christopher Huggins. This tribute is set in 1940s Germany amid the throes of the Holocaust. In Huggins’ words, it is a “haunting glimpse into the lives of a Jewish family of four—from their kitchen table to their end.”

Finally, Ballet Palm Beach rounds off the evening with “Space Between Words” and “Saint-Saëns Suite.” “Space Between Words” is an intricate, contemporary-styled piece by Floridian choreographer, Donna Murray. It is set to music by minimalist composer Arvo Pärt. “Saint-Saëns Suite,” a neoclassical work choreographed by Ballet Palm Beach Artistic Director Colleen Smith, aims to embody Saint-Saëns’ sparkling music while showcasing the versatility and strength of the company dancers.

Tickets start at $19; student and group deals are available. To purchase tickets, call (561) 814-5598 or 1-800-297-8309, or visit www.balletpalmbeach.org.
