Beth El to host new series on Jewish religion

Beth El — The Beaches Synagogue wants to help local residents get back in touch with their Jewish roots.

The synagogue is hosting a new series entitled “Tell Me Why?” to help answer questions and solve the mysteries of the Jewish religion.

“Many times, people are embarrassed to ask questions,” Membership Committee Chair Grace Belkin said. “The series ‘Tell Me Why?’ was created to help temper people’s confusion.”

The “Tell Me Why” series with Rabbi Matuson will run quarterly and will include topics such as “What I thought I knew about Judaism,” “The December Dilemma” and “Why are there no vowels in the Torah?”

“We are starting a new membership campaign running from December 2018 through February 2019” Belkin said. “We felt this program would be a great way to bring people into the synagogue to see all that we have going on while getting to know the rabbi and our congregation.”

The first in the series will take place Jan. 15, 2019 at 7 p.m. and will focus on “What I

thought I knew about Judaism, what I used to know and have simply forgotten and what I never

knew but was too embarrassed to ask.”

Seating is limited, and reservations are available by emailing elissa@bethelbeaches.org or by calling (904) 273-9100. For further information on Beth El — The Beaches Synagogue and its current membership campaign, contact the synagogue office at (904) 273-9100 or visit bethelbeaches.org.
