Chabad at the Beaches is encouraging the community to join them for their High Holiday services. Rabbi Nochum and Leah Kurinsky, a guest cantor and volunteer ushers are dedicated to leading the events.
With Rosh Hashanah taking place Sept. 9-11, Chabad at the Beaches is looking forward to Yom Kippur services in a warm and inclusive, non-judgmental setting with prayer, commentary and the use of English-Hebrew prayer books. Pages are announced frequently, and sermons are inspiring, relevant and funny, according to Chabad.
“According to Jewish tradition, on the Jewish New Year, the doors of Heaven are open,” said Chabad Rabbi Nochum Kurinsky, “G-d accepts prayers from everyone. The least we can do is open hearts and doors to the entire community. The Lubavitcher Rebbe insists that Judaism is accessible to all Jews.
“During the Jewish High Holidays, accessibility can translate into different factors for different people, such as a non-judgmental atmosphere, affordability of the services or the ability for a beginner to follow along,” Kurinsky continued. “Our goal is to lower the barriers of entry and encourage each and every Jew to actively participate in these most holy and introspective days.”
Yom Kippur begins this year after sundown on the eve of Sept. 18 and extends until nightfall on Sept. 19.
