Local families and chili masters will celebrate the fall season while raising money for local children in crisis at Daniel Kids' inaugural Fall Fest and chili cook-off Oct. 15 from noon to 5 p.m. at Nocatee Town Center Field. Event proceeds will support the nonprofit's programs that aid more than 2,000 abused, neglected and emotionally troubled children every day.

The event will feature a chili cook-off for professional, amateur and youth teams in which entrants will compete for the title of Best Chili in Northeast Florida. Kids will also enjoy a fun zone featuring bounce houses, fall-themed games, a costume contest and "big toys," such as a fire engine, police car and military vehicles.

The festival is open to the public and will include chili samples, food trucks and large screens featuring live football games. Cost to attend is $5. For chili team registration or to purchase tickets, visit www.danielkids.org.

Established in 1884, Daniel Kids is Florida's oldest child-service agency that offers abused and emotionally troubled children refuge and counseling while connecting kids with foster and adoptive homes. The organization also helps homeless teenagers find housing and jobs. Visit www.danielkids.org for more information.
