The first “Suddenly Single” program took place at the Ponte Vedra Recorder office on Monday, March 5, introducing a monthly series for men and women designed to provide support to those experiencing separation or divorce.

Mary Ortiz, a dating and relationship coach, speaker and author, served as the speaker of the March 5 session. The next meeting, to be held Monday, April 2 from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m., at the Recorder, will feature Kendall Fordham as its speaker. A financial planner for Raymond James, Fordham will speak about the common financial mistakes made before, during and after a divorce. RSVP to Trudy Toche at (973) 819-6581.

Toche, the creator of “Suddenly Single,” said nothing like this existed in the community, so she decided to create it herself. The series, said Toche, will provide attendees the opportunity to learn about topics that will help them positively move forward in their lives, such as finance, nutrition, parenting issues and more.

“Whenever you’re educated, you’re empowered,” said Toche.

Another meeting is scheduled for May 14, but the speaker is to be determined.
