Hugs Across the County to again hold No Hungry Holidays program

Posted

Ponte Vedra Beach-based nonprofit organization Hugs Across the County is kicking off its fourth annual No Hungry Holidays program to provide breakfast and lunch items to St. Johns County children over the long winter break.

This year, St. Johns County counselors from nearly every school have referred 1,000 children to the program, including almost 100 from the Ponte Vedra area.

Hugs is collecting large boxes of unsweetened cereal; tab top Chef Boyardee; Easy Mac; granola bars; large creamy peanut butter; Saltine-style crackers; and fruit cups. People can drop off donations at Ponte Vedra High School, Valley Ridge Academy, Starling at Nocatee and Ponte Vedra Eye Associates.

A $20 donation online at www.stjohnshugs.org helps Hugs provide a bag with eight to 10 days of food to one local child. Hugs will sort and pack at Ponte Vedra High School on Tuesday, Dec. 11. For information about the program, or if you are a business or group interested in sponsoring a specific school, email Hugs at info@stjohnshugs.org.
