Jacksonville Beach Deck The Chairs announces 2018 award winners

During the annual Night of Music & Dance held on Sunday, Dec. 9, Jacksonville Beach Deck The Chairs (JBDTC) Executive Director Kurtis Loftus announced the 2018 Chair Decorating Award winners. 

Ballots were distributed to visitors of JBDTC during the first two weekends of the event. More than 500 votes were cast. The winners were: 

■ Best of Show: “K9s are Coming to Town” by K9s for Warriors 

■ Blue Ribbon: “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” by American Legion – Post 129 

■ Red Ribbon: “Holiday Fishing Bear” by Pablo Towers 

■ Yellow Ribbon: “Follow the Moon” by Atlantic Beach Country Club 

Honorable Mentions

■ “Welcome to Our Dog House” by Fur Sisters 

■ “Time Machine” by First Coast News and Andrew Jackson High School 

■ “Little Chapel School House & Tree Farm” by St. Paul’s Catholic School 

■ “Santa Retires to the Good Life at Fleet Landing” by Fleet Landing 

Creative Appreciation

■ “Beaches Go Green Jellyfish Park” by Beaches Go Green, Republic Services and Artistic Contractors

Upcoming JBDTC events

JBDTC is an annual, lighted, sculptural exhibit using the chairs of The American Red Cross Life Saving Corps. Marking its sixth year in community service, JBDTC gathers community to decorate and display the Beaches lifeguard chairs during the month of December to promote local business, instill public pride and share cultural diversity through creative expression.
