Jacksonville Symphony plans two free concert

Posted

The Jacksonville Symphony will host pre-season concerts on Wednesday, Sept. 16, and Thursday, Sept. 17. These concerts will be free to attend.

With limited seating available due to a physically distanced Jacoby Symphony Hall, the symphony asks that seats only be reserved for those sure they can attend the performance. For more information about tickets for the open houses and the 2020-21 season, call the symphony box office at 904-354-5547 or go to www.jaxsymphony.org.

These open house performances will mark the first time that Jacoby Symphony Hall has been open to the public since March. As of right now, the symphony is one of only a handful of larger orchestras opening their doors for live performances. Recently, the symphony announced the thorough list of health and safety protocols that will be in place for concerts. A full listing of protocols can be found at jaxsymphony.org/about/safety-protocols.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. each day and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

The program for each concert will be the same, conducted by music director Courtney Lewis and featuring music from Tchaikovsky to Sousa. Following new concert protocols, each will only be about an hour with no intermission.
