The Jacksonville Symphony’s annual Holiday Pops concerts will return to Jacksonville’s Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts for six showings starting Thursday, Dec. 7 through Sunday, Dec. 10.
This year’s event is full of special guests including the Jacksonville Symphony Chorus. Accompanying them will be dancers from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Dance and Theater program.
Highlights of this year’s performance will include the arrangement of “Hanukkah Festival” by Jeffrey Biegel (featuring the Jacksonville Symphony Chorus); favorites from Christmas classics like “White Christmas” and “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town;” selections from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker;” Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride;” three guest artists and Jacksonville’s only guaranteed “snowfall.”
Holiday Pops will be conducted by Jacksonville Symphony Associate Conductor Nathan Aspinall. Recent performances of Aspinall’s have included Handel’s “Messiah,” Prokofiev’s “Cinderella” and a special event concert with organist Cameron Carpenter. Formerly, he held the position of young conductor with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, where he assisted Chief Conductor Johannes Fritzsch and visiting guest conductors and conducted concerts for the education series.
The first Holiday Pops performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 in Jacoby Symphony Hall at the Times-Union Center for Performing Arts, which is located at 300 Water St. in Jacksonville. For concert tickets and additional information, visit www.jaxsymphony.org.
