On Saturday, Nov. 3, the 18th annual JDRF Miracles Gala broke records hosting over 500 people at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa and generating $600,000 that will be used to advance JDRF’s mission of improving lives and curing type 1 diabetes.

Featuring a theme of “One Night in Old Hollywood,” the JDRF North Florida Chapter event was chaired by Kasey Repass of Jacksonville Beach and Kristina Greco of Ponte Vedra Beach. Former TPC Sawgrass General Manager Bill Hughes received the Living and Giving Award as this year’s honoree. In addition, Michael Ward and Jennifer Glock, this year’s Fund A Cure Champions, made a $100,000 contribution to JDRF, the largest single gift received by JDRF North Florida. The gift matched contributions by guests at the gala during a portion of the evening called Fund A Cure, in which guests raised bid paddles and made contributions to the research of type 1 diabetes.

In addition to this gift, the Van Zant family presented JDRF with a $50,000 gift on behalf of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Foundation in honor of a family member that lives with type 1 diabetes. The Chris Thomas band helped guests celebrate with a full big band, and guests danced the night away.
