Local preschoolers share the ‘Sounds of the Season’ at Christ Episcopal Church

The Christ Episcopal Church Preschool held its traditional Christmas program last Friday, Dec. 14.

The program, “Sounds of the Season,” was practiced for four weeks before the performance of each class. Local families gathered to watch their loved ones sing and dance along to Christmas classics. Songs included were “Jingle Bells,” “O Christmas Tree” and “Joy to the World.”

“It’s the best part of the job,” music teacher Laura Young said. “A lot of people don’t think about it, but for many of these kids, it’s their first experience with these songs. I am just so happy to be a part of that.”

Deno and Lee-Catherine Hicks came to watch their daughter, Melina Hicks, perform.

“She has been practicing since Thanksgiving for this,” Lee-Catherine Hicks said. “A lot of times at home, too. She was just so excited to perform today. Part of that, however, was that this officially starts her three-week Christmas break.”

After all their hard work, the preschoolers are now ready to start the countdown to Christmas morning.
