Nease High School evacuated its students and staff today following the discovery of a written bomb threat within the building.

St. Johns County sheriff’s deputies searched the building with a K9-unit and concluded that nothing suspicious was found. All students and staff are safe.

According to SJSO Sergeant Jay Lawing, a student found a note on the bathroom floor earlier in the afternoon stating that a bomb would go off during fifth period. Staff consequently evacuated the students to the football field adjacent to the school and waited until authorities arrived to clear the building.

Lawing said an investigation is ongoing to determine who is responsible for the threat.
