Newcomers Alumnae inducts new board members at luncheon

Posted

On Sept. 2, Newcomers Alumnae held its first monthly luncheon since the COVID-19 pandemic started in March.

Members gathered at Marsh Landing Country Club in Ponte Vedra Beach and enjoyed chicken piccata with risotto while also practicing socially distancing.

Donna Berger acted as the Mistress of Ceremonies during the induction ceremonies of the new board members. The newly elected directors were Maria Woodford and Barbara Stidfole (co-presidents); Sally Lutz (vice president); Louise Johnson (treasurer); Debbie Condit (recording secretary); and Maureen Tinnesz (corresponding secretary.

Borrowing from Dr. Seuss’ book. “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!” about the journey of life and its challenges, Berger incorporated that theme into present-day events as she conducted the induction ceremonies with a whimsical Seuss backdrop.

To thank them for their service to Newcomers Alumnae, gifts were given to outgoing Co-President Nancy Scott, outgoing Corresponding Secretary Pam Tarleton; outgoing luncheon organizer Dede Leclaire; and outgoing Treasurer Bette Golden. Gifts were also given to Sharon Romans, luncheon organizer; Katie McGuigan, newsletter/directory editor; Vice President Sally Lutz; and Co-Presidents Maria Woodford and Barbara Stidfole.

Newcomers Alumnae’s next event will be a Happy Hour at Nona Blue in Ponte Vedra Beach from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17.  The next membership luncheon will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Marsh Landing Country Club. Prospective members are invited to visit newcomersalumnae.wildapricot.org for more information.
