Mike Taylor is a regional vice president for GreenPointe Communities, which is currently building the new EvenTide community in Ponte Vedra Beach.

Can you please tell us about your background?

I bring 33 years of homebuilding, development and operations experience to GreenPointe Communities. After graduating from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in marketing, I decided to move back to my hometown of Atlanta and get my real estate license. I first joined Rubloff, a commercial real estate brokerage firm, where I provided a combination of corporate asset consulting and transaction negotiation for local, regional and national companies. Following a successful sales career in commercial real estate, I held various management positions with John Wieland Homes and was instrumental in expanding its operations to Jacksonville.

In 1998, I joined Hines and led the development and construction efforts in the creation of Palencia, a 2,350-acre master-planned golf course community in St. Johns County. In 2006, I returned to Atlanta and joined one of the nation’s largest privately held homebuilders, McCar Homes, as division president. I was charged with developing multiple communities in Atlanta and Jacksonville. Missing the beach lifestyle, my family and I decided to move back to Jacksonville in 2008 where I joined LandSouth Construction to lead a team of project managers, superintendents and field personnel in the construction of over 1,900 apartments throughout the Southeast. From 2013 to 2017, I worked in Orlando and Naples for FrontDoor Communities, building high-end single family and multifamily luxury homes. Today, I’m an active member with Urban Land Institute North Florida and Northeast Florida Builders Association.

What are your primary roles and responsibilities as regional vice president for GreenPointe Communities?

I’m charged with creating and executing the vision and strategic plan for GreenPointe Communities throughout the Northeast Florida region. I’m responsible for managing the day-to-day operations for the division, including land acquisition, development, construction, sales, marketing and investor relations. In addition to new deal sourcing, I am currently managing four residential master-planned communities in Jacksonville, including Amelia Walk, 749 homes in Nassau County; Greyhawk, 500 homes in Clay County; TrailMark, 2,200 homes in St. Johns County; and Eventide, 23 estate homesites in Ponte Vedra Beach.

What’s most exciting to you about EvenTide?

It’s the best kept secret in Northeast Florida. You can build a new custom luxury home with private beach access starting at $1.3 million. Living at EvenTide, you can experience coastal living with all the conveniences and amenities in Ponte Vedra Beach.

What do you think is the future of Northeast Florida?

The future of Northeast Florida is bright. The positive economic indicators for North Florida suggest we are in a healthy market. We will continue to see a migration of businesses and families moving to the area because of the unique quality of life in Northeast Florida. Our natural resources, diverse landscape, low cost of living, existing and planned infrastructure provide unique attraction.

What do you enjoy most about living in Ponte Vedra?

I like the community feel of Ponte Vedra. It’s a small neighborhood community with proximity to Jacksonville.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to spend time with my family — my wife Susan and two daughters — at the beach. I also enjoy golf, hunting and fishing. When possible, I like to go flying in the Florida blue skies with my aviator friends.
