Permitting continues for new Gate station

Gate Petroleum remains in the permitting stage for construction of a new convenience store, gas station and car wash at 280 A1A North in Ponte Vedra.

According to a company spokeswoman, no dates have yet been set for beginning and completion of construction. Also, the opening date for the business will be announced at a future point.

The business will have a 6,536-square-foot convenience store, including a Fresh Kitchen restaurant and a Yobe Frozen Yogurt shop, 24 fueling stations and a 145-foot, 5,089-square-foot car wash building. The business sits on a 6.79-acre parcel.

In December, the project survived a court challenge from C.X.C., which was listed in a court document as the owner of The Shoppes of Ponte Vedra, which is located just south of the project site.

C.X.C. and some residents of nearby Dolphin Cove had opposed the new station, citing its proximity to wetlands and variances related to signs and architecture.
