Plane crash reported off coast of Northeast Florida

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Coast Guard, several agencies are responding after the Coast Guard received information this morning regarding a possible plane crash several miles off the coast of Northeast Florida.

Initial reports were that the plane crashed off the coast of Ponte Vedra. According to the Coast Guard, however, the crash actually took place 2 miles east of the Mayport inlet. The exact location has yet to be confirmed.

Also according to Ryan Dickinson, a Petty Officer Third Class with the Coast Guard, there were two people were on board the Piper PA-46. The plane was headed from Kissimmee to New Jersey. They sent a distress call to the Coast Guard at 9:45 a.m. The condition of the two people is currently unknown.
