After defeating St. Augustine and Fletcher over the past week, the Ponte Vedra boy’s lacrosse team will play Gainesville Oak Hall in the regional finals on Friday, May 4, for a shot to play in the state tournament.
The Sharks topped the Yellow Jackets 12-6 at the Shark Tank on Tuesday, May 1. Scorers for Ponte Vedra included Jack Dowd and Carter Parlette with three goals, Walker Azzaro with two goals and Dylan Hess, CD James, Jack Burke and Freddie DiMarzo with one goal each.
A few days prior on Friday, April 27, Ponte Vedra beat Fletcher 21-4. Scorers in that contest included Parlette with seven goals and an assist; Dowd with five goals and an assist; and Cam Welch and Azzaro with two goals each. Wyatt Schupler had eight saves in net, while Parlette and Tommy Zitello each had five ground balls.
The regional final on May 4 will be played at Oak Hall at 7 p.m., according to the Ponte Vedra lacrosse website. Earlier in the season, the Sharks defeated Oak Hall 13-7.
