Kieryn Brophy, a 13-year-old student from Ponte Vedra Ballet & Dance Company, recently performed at Hermitage Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia.

Studying ballet during the 2018 Dance Open held in St. Petersburg, she was joined by Ballet Detroit students of master instructor Sergey Rayevskiy.

“It was such an honor to have her dance on the Hermitage stage,” said Dawn Wolf, artistic director of Ponte Vedra Ballet & Dance Company. “We are fortunate enough to bring the Ballet Detroit Winter Intensive here to Ponte Vedra every year, and now to have her dance in Russia, this just made our spring fantastic too.”

Brophy will be continuing her ballet studies this summer at the Houston Ballet.

Overall, Ponte Vedra Ballet & Dance Company dancers have had a busy year. Opportunities have included workshops from Ballet Detroit with famed dancer/choreographer Rasta Thomas, principal dancer Sergei Sidorski and ballerina Yulia Pivotskaya, and master classes from Martha Graham’s Kim Jones, Alvin Ailey’s Alicia Graf and Italy’s Company Ivir’s Irma Cardano.

“We are very happy to be able to expose our dancers to top notch training,” said Wolf.      Several other Ponte Vedra Ballet dance students will be traveling this summer to study at various conservatories. Mallory Merritt will be studying at the North Carolina School of the Arts and has an invitation to join its year-round program. Anne Case will be attending the Rock School in Philadelphia. Emily Shende and Alexandra Willis will be attending the ABT program in Austin, Texas. Kaelin Eubanks was accepted into Patel Conservatory in Tampa, and Anna Woody was accepted at both Patel and Joffrey Ballet School in New York City.
