Ponte Vedra Beach resident Hannah Berman has joined Jacksonville University’s women’s golf program after spending her freshman season at the University of West Florida.
“Hannah will be a great addition to our program,” said Head Coach Jennifer Borocz. “She has played on a variety of levels and already has one year of college golf under her belt. This will give our program the extra depth that we are in need of, and I look forward to seeing Hannah grow on and off the course.”
Most recently, Berman medaled in the qualifying tournament of the 2017 USGA Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship and was a member of the U.S. Women’s National Golf Team at the 2017 Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel.
In 2016, Berman was named a FSGA Scholar and received the inaugural Bill Black Scholarship Award from the Jacksonville Area Golf Association. She later represented Team Florida in the Southeast Women’s Challenge Cup and was a quarterfinalist in the Florida State Women’s Amateur Championship. In October, Berman was named the Gulf Coast Conference Freshman Golfer of the Month after tying for sixth in the Division II Regional Preview at Newberry College.
She also competed in the 2015 US Women’s Amateur Championship and received the AJGA/USGA President’s Leadership Award that year.
Berman played seven years of varsity golf, including sixth through ninth grades at The Bolles School and 10th through 12th grades at Ponte Vedra High School, where she was team captain her junior and senior years. Elected MVP during her sophomore and junior years, she was also given a Lifetime Achievement Award on behalf of both schools her senior year.
Her teams made four trips to the FHSAA State Finals and as a senior, Berman finished ninth individually while the team placed fifth overall. A three-time Florida Times Union First Team All-City golfer in 2013, 2014, and 2015, Berman was also a two-time regional champion in 2013 and 2015 and district champion in 2014. She was also named St. Johns County Player of the Year in 2015.
“She is a solid student with a background in community service,” Borocz said, “which will fit right into our program.”
