Ponte Vedra dancers, instructor win accolades at First Coast Classic

Five Ponte Vedra women were among the contestants of the 28th First Coast Classic Dancesport Championship March 8-10 at the World Golf Village Renaissance St. Augustine Resort, each of them earning first place in multiple dance events.

Contestants Jeanne Cason, Janet Collins, Susan Johnson, Tracy Rooney and Teri Seacrest competed with their instructor, Allan Alday of Dance Alday in Ponte Vedra Beach. The ladies competed in the Pro-Am division in American Smooth (waltz, tango, foxtrot, Viennese waltz), American  Rhythm (cha-cha, rumba, swing, bolero, mambo), International Latin (cha-cha, samba, rumba, Paso Doble, jive) and Club Style (hustle, salsa, West Coast swing, bachata, merengue), ultimately earning the Second Top Studio award for Dance Alday and the Third Top Teacher award for Alday himself.
