Golf pro Stefan D. Brunt is glad to be back in Ponte Vedra, and even more excited to share his love of golf with guests and members at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.

“I’m from this area,” Brunt said. “I’ve spent a lot of time here, both my kids were born here, so it’s a great opportunity to come back and to work for the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, with its culture, the history of the facility and their standards.”

Brunt, a University of Florida graduate who has worked in the golf industry for 17 years, was recently named the head golf professional at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. He will be responsible for the development of creative and engaging member programming, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the golf pro shop and providing private lessons for members and guests.

Prior to coming to the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, Brunt held several positions at Sawgrass Country Club for 10 years, including head professional from 2012-2015. Most recently, Brunt was the director of golf operations at the premier member-owned Mizner Country Club in Delray Beach, where he led a staff of PGA and LPGA Professionals and apprentices who managed a full schedule of events and member instructional programs.

Brunt, who returned to the Ponte Vedra area with his wife Paula and their 7-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son, said the small-town feel of the area mixed with its expansive golf community makes it a perfect fit. He also said he is excited for the opportunity to share his love and knowledge of the game with anyone who’s interested.

“There’s a lot of history in the game of golf and being able to express that and pass that on is one of the great things about our job,” he said. “I love the comradery amongst all the professionals, the other individuals I work with on a daily basis. .... We all love the game and we like to pass that on to anybody we come in contact with.”

Brunt is also looking forward to what the future holds for him in the area and at his new position.

“I’m excited to be back in the area and excited to be working with a lot of mentors of mine that have helped me throughout the years,” Brunt said. “I’m just happy to see my future progress in an area I’m excited to be in and working for a company that’s simply one of the best, really.”
