Ponte Vedra Woman’s Club holds new member social, looks forward to March meeting with Carolyn Herman

On Feb. 28, the Ponte Vedra Woman’s Club (PVWC) held its semiannual new and perspective member social.  

At the event, the club highlighted its accomplishments for the charities it supports, including Betty Griffin House, St. Augustine Youth Services, Expanding Your Horizons, BEAM and the Florida School for the Deaf and Bind. Club President Ti Haroldsonn also introduced the board, and each woman explained their role in the association.  

Following the social, the Ponte Vedra Woman’s Club is looking forward to its March general meeting, which will be held March 18 at LuLu's Waterfront Grille. The guest speaker of the meeting will be Carolyn Herman of Carolyn Herman, PLLC.

Herman practices entertainment, intellectual property and small business law. Her clients include film producers, actors, screenwriters, musicians, songwriters, labels, literary authors, visual artists and creative small business owners. She is currently a member of the mayor’s Film Advisory Board (City of Jacksonville), Film Florida, Women in Film and Television (Jacksonville Chapter), Jacksonville Women’s Network’s Legal Section and the Jacksonville Beaches Bar Association. 

Herman is a former chair of the Florida Bar’s Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section (EASL) and continues to be a member after serving on the Executive Council for 16 years. Most recently, in January 2019, Herman was appointed by City Council as a member of the City of Jacksonville’s Task Force on Safety and Crime Reduction.

She is a graduate of Cornell University, Fordham Law School and George Washington University National Law Center and is admitted to practice before the state and federal bars of New York and Florida. Prior to moving to Florida, she was a commercial litigator and an administrative law judge in her native city of New York. 

Herman has spoken and continues to speak at various entertainment law seminars. She also serves as pro bono counsel to the Beaches Hospital Network and is a pro bono mediator for the Fourth Circuit Small Claims Mediation Program. She is also a member of the PVWC.
