The Ponte Vedra wrestling team suffered a narrow 42-34 loss to host Flagler Palm Coast on Wednesday, Jan. 17.
Following an 11-4 win by Preston Turner at 120-pound division, Steven Kowitski hit a quick fireman’s carry and followed that up with a half nelson for a first period pin. Jackson Shewey (pin) and Alex de Almeida (14-8) kept the win streak going at 132 and 138.
Ethan Baur and Rett Maritato each moved up a weight class to help the team score bonus points and dominated with a pin and 13-0 win, respectively.
After a dual at Fletcher on Wednesday, Jan. 23, the Sharks head to the North Florida Dual Tournament at Bishop Snyder on Saturday, Jan. 26.
