Seniors celebrate the American spirit with July Fourth festivities

Custom prevails that American patriotism is a feeling best celebrated with music and hamburgers. With that in mind, the seniors at THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center were in high spirits for the center’s annual Independence Day party on July 4.

Musician Steve Chapman entertained by performing classic American songs that members sang along to. Between the “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” seniors enjoyed cake and watermelon while donning the United States’ national colors of red, white and blue.

Longtime community member Ian Charlton also presented a patriotic-themed lecture entitled, “The American Spirit is Our Greatest Resource,” inspiring pride across all attendees.
