Members of the Churchmen gathered at Ponte Vedra Beach’s Sawgrass Beach Club in April with their spouses and significant others for the annual Churchmen Spring Fling.
Sixty couples attended, enjoying hors d’oeuvres and cocktails followed by dinner and dancing. The Steve Chapman Trio provided entertainment for the evening.
The occasion is the organization’s only event of the year at which members bring dates. As a result, the Spring Fling provides couples the opportunity to meet and mingle with one another.
According to Chairman John Flynn, the Chuchmen currently has 170 members who meet several times throughout the year for lunch and interesting speakers.
The all-male organization was founded in 1977 by a group of gentlemen at Christ Episcopal Church with the purpose of building and fostering relationships within the Ponte Vedra community. Forty years later, it has become a non-sectarian institution that embraces all faiths.
