The number of residents in St. Johns County who’ve been infected with COVID-19 increased by nearly 200 in the past week, according to the Florida Department of Health.

The county now has reported 548 positive cases as of Thursday morning. The deal toll, however, remained at seven.

The number of people infected in the 32081 and 32802 zip codes – areas that include Ponte Vedra, Nocatee, Ponte Vedra Beach, Palm Valley, Sawgrass and Jacksonville – was 157, an increase of 43 in the past six days.
All but 12 of those infected are St. Johns County residents.
The median age of those infected is 46. Also, 268 were women and 267 were men. The state is still investigating the sexes of the other patients.
Fifty-eight have required hospitalization. The rest are recovering from home.

County-wide, 17,102 people have been tested in St. Johns County, with 3.2% returning with positive results.
Because numbers are reported at different times from a variety of sources and there's confusion between dying of COVID-19 and dying with COVID-19, the state is constantly updating and correcting its figures. Figures reported by long-term care facilities also reflect significant changes on a daily basis.
As of Wednesday afternoon, 109,014 people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in Florida. The state’s death toll was 3,281.
