Students donate birdhouses to Gabriel House of Care

First-graders from Beaches Chapel School painted seven birdhouses and donated them to Gabriel House of Care before school ended for the summer. The school chef also made a special Texas sheet cake for those staying at Gabriel House to enjoy.

“We love each and every one of the birdhouses the students made,” said Valerie Callahan, executive director, Gabriel House of Care. “It was so thoughtful of them to think of our guests and to do something to brighten their day. Our guests are with us for a prolonged period of time, so we do our best to help provide a community of healing environment, which includes art, to uplift them while they cope with the uncertainties surrounding cancer treatment and organ transplants.”

Gabriel House provides affordable, temporary lodging to adult cancer and organ transplant patients and their caregivers who travel to Jacksonville for treatment.
