The Plantation at Ponte Vedra and its board of directors recently announced the appointment of Brad Nelson to the position of director of golf, effective Dec. 30, 2020.

Nelson is a Jacksonville native, a 2009 graduate of the University of North Florida with a B.S. in political science, and was a four-year member of the UNF men’s golf team.

During his 10-plus-year career as a PGA professional, Nelson has held positions at some of the world’s finest clubs, including Saucon Valley Country Club and Muirfield Village Golf Club. He most recently served as the head golf professional at Cedarbrook Country Club in Philadelphia. Additionally, Nelson worked as a golf professional at Sawgrass Country Club and Atlantic Beach Country Club.

Nelson brings a strong passion for the golf industry to his new position. His experience, leadership skills, industry knowledge and personality will be instrumental in moving The Plantation forward. He succeeds Nancy Maunder, who was one of his mentors early in his career. Maunder is retiring after serving as the director of golf for 20 years.

“It’s been a dream of mine to return home to Jacksonville and work at The Plantation,” Nelson said. “I look forward to continuing the legacy Nancy has maintained here for so many years.”
