Timucuan Parks Foundation’s 20th Anniversary Exhibition “Celebrate & Explore Our Wilderness Parks” opened last weekend during the Beaches Museum’s Annual Springing the Blooms Festival.
The exhibition showcases Northeast Florida’s parks and preserves through paintings, photographs and video drone footage from local artists. It also provides information on the history of the Timucuan Parks Foundation and its partner focuses including the 7 Creeks Recreation Area and the Barrier Islands Parks.
TPF’s “Celebrate & Explore Our Wilderness Parks” Exhibition at Beaches Museum has eight new paintings from fine artist Kathy Stark, as well as four of her park paintings original to the exhibition. The exhibition also features video drone footage captured by Tom Schifanella, and still images taken by photographer Will Dickey. Prints of Stark’s new paintings will be available for purchase in various sizes.
Panels throughout the gallery highlight TPF’s accomplishments as well as its current resiliency, health, engagement and park development initiatives. The purpose is to help the community identify parts of town that incorporate numerous preservation areas they can visit. The exhibition opened in October of 2019 at MOSH and was displayed at the Fernandina Beach Branch Library from July of 2020 through March 2021.
The Beaches Museum is located at 381 Beach Blvd. in Jacksonville Beach. The “Celebrate & Explore Our Wilderness Parks” exhibition will be on display through the end of October. Visitors will be able to enjoy virtual and small in-person presentations by the artists and other notable speakers. The first speaker event will take place May 20 and will feature TPF’s Program and Outreach Director Felicia Boyd who will speak about the nonprofit organization’s health initiative and recreational opportunities in Jacksonville’s parks and preserves.
