The next meeting of the Ponte Vedra Beach Municipal Service District (MSD) will feature a workshop on code enforcement issues, proposed amendments to the Ponte Vedra Zoning District Regulations (PVZDR) and a few additional topics.
To be held Monday, March 11 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church’s Cultural Center, the workshop will begin at 6 p.m. and be led by Beverly Frazier of St. Johns County Growth Management Planning and Zoning. County staff is introducing the general topics for discussion to receive public input for future amendments.
According to the workshop agenda, the code enforcement section of the meeting will begin with discussion on where commercial vehicles can and cannot park and what constitutes a commercial vehicle. The workshop will then focus on refuse containers and the inclusion of bagged yard waste as a refuse container to limit front yard storage. The third code enforcement issue on the agenda is fences and walls, with discussion to focus on the allowance of 6-foot tall fences within side and/or rear yards to provide requested privacy for homes and pool/patio areas.
The proposed amendments to the PVZDR first include revisions to address viewpoint neutrality for signage and clarify sign allowances based on zoning district, type (temporary or permanent) and location. The second proposed amendment regards the vacated 34-foot right-of-way adjacent to Ponte Vedra Boulevard and the addition of language to require non-platted lots to measure the setback from the vacated right-of-way in lieu of the front property line. The third proposed amendment for discussion is regarding tree protection. According to the agenda, residents have requested additional code regulations for protection of trees in the Ponte Vedra Zoning District for residential lots. Discussion will focus on the proposed regulations crafted by community member and MSD trustee Mack McCuller and environmental staff to address land clearing, tree preservation, permitting and mitigation for unauthorized removal.
Additional topics on the workshop agenda include lagoon bulkheads and docks and Ordinance 2006-68, which prohibits parking/placement of construction materials within the right-of-way on Ponte Vedra Boulevard.
