Turtle Trot raises $60K for education

Posted

PVPV/Rawlings Elementary School held it’s annual Turtle Trot Fund Run on last month on campus. The PTO and our community partner in education, Coastal Luxury Outdoors, presented the event that is the largest fundraiser for the elementary school.

The annual Turtle Trot Fund Run encourages fitness for kindergarteners through fifth graders while raising funds to support the students’ educational needs.

The students walked or ran up to 30 minutes while being cheered on by their teachers, family members and representatives from our school community partners in education including Coastal Luxury Outdoors, Chick- Fil-a, Lazzara Orthodontics, Jake Bestic, Ponte Vedra Realty and New York Life. Volunteers marked each lap completed on the back of the newly designed t-shirts featuring the Turtle Trot logo donated to each student by PTO.

Reveal day was on Oct. 14 — and the students learned they raised over $60,000, an increase from last year’s collected donations. Because they were so successful they were allowed to wear flip-flops to school.

With the support of Coastal Luxury Outdoors, PTO and numerous volunteers, the Turtle Trot Fund Run is done completely in-house, allowing all proceeds to go directly back into the school. This year the proceeds will be used for several up and coming school improvement projects to enhance learning opportunities for all students.
