Athlete of the Week: Davis Lee

This week’s Athlete of the Week is Davis Lee, a Ponte Vedra High School senior who has committed to playing golf at the University of North Florida (UNF). Earlier this year, Lee medaled in the U.S. Amateur qualifier after shooting his second 67 in a row and finishing with a 10-under-par 134. More recently, Lee finished with a score of 154 among boys ages 16 to 18 at the Timacuan Golf & Country Club course.

In this edition of Why I Serve, featuring Wounded Warrior Project, the Recorder sat down with Iraq War veteran Adam Bagby, who discussed his time serving in the U.S. Army as a military police officer, why he chose to enlist in the army and more. Bagby, who now teaches world history at St. Augustine High School, served from 2001 to 2009. His first day of Advanced Individual Training was on the morning of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

Nancy Morrison is a co-chair of the 12th annual Pink Ribbon Golf Classic in Ponte Vedra Beach, which is taking place Thursday, Oct. 4 at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club. The Classic and ensuing events support Mayo Clinic-Jacksonville and Baptist Medical Center Beaches in their mission to research and treat breast cancer. Morrison is chairing the events with Joanne Ghiloni. The two women have been co-chairs for the last two years.
