Nocatee celebrates Independence Day with golf cart parade and contest

Residents of the Nocatee community celebrated Independence Day at Nocatee Station Field with its annual golf cart parade and contest.

Grass skirts, Hawaiian shirts brighten Nocatee Farmers Market

The Saturday, June 15 Nocatee Farmers Market had an Island Experience theme. Shoppers were encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts to witness performances by Prince Pele’s Polynesian Revue including a variety of Polynesian dances, costumes and live music. Shows were scheduled at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. so it was easy to catch a performance. There were photo opportunities with the performers throughout the day. Kids had fun in the bounce houses and participated in craft projects.

Megan Wall, managing attorney at St. Johns Legal Aid, is passionate about the law and the protections if affords, especially to special needs populations. She speaks frequently to Council on Aging groups throughout the county about senior issues and presents a "People's Law School" at the Southeast Branch library.

Nationwide high school students study St. Augustine’s Spanish heritage

The historic Ximenez-Fatio House Museum at 20 Aviles Street in downtown St. Augustine, recently hosted 30 high school students from across the nation in a partnership program of Flagler College and the Florida Humanities Council. On June 18, eligible students who have entered 11th or 12th grades in August and September toured and filmed the historic property as part of the academic summer session on St. Augustine’s Spanish Heritage and studies with Professor María José Maguire, assistant professor of Spanish in the School of Humanities and Sciences at the college.

Cypress Village residents and staff tour Ximenez-Fatio House

The historic Ximenez-Fatio House Museum at 20 Aviles Street in downtown St. Augustine, hosted Cypress Village Jacksonville at Brookdale Senior Living residents and staff during a historic property tour and audio visual presentation on June 25.
