The invasion of Ukraine has created an urgent need for Catholic Charities Jacksonville to provide aid to those actively fleeing the country. There are hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians who have been displaced due to the war, and they’ve left everything behind to do so.
Catholic Charities Jacksonville’s refugee services team is preparing to ensure each Ukrainian refugee family has a safe place to live, furniture, food and living staples waiting for them when they arrive here.
The community is expecting to resettle dozens of Ukrainian families in the coming weeks.
The Atlantic Beach community is rallying to assist Catholic Charities Jacksonville by hosting AB Loves Ukraine: A Refugee Resettlement Supply Drive on Friday and Saturday, April 22 and 23, at City Hall, 800 Seminole Road.
A large truck staffed by volunteers will be in the parking lot from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The community is encouraged to bring new or like-new household items listed below. Reasonably priced items are available from the AB Loves Ukraine Amazon registry, which is posted along with additional information at coab.us/ukraine.
Furniture and clothing are not needed at this time.
Needed: Kitchen dinnerware, drinkware, utensils, cookware, bakeware, mixing bowls, cutting boards, colanders/strainers and silverware; garbage cans and garbage bags; towels, dish cloths; light bulbs; can openers; toilet brushes; shower curtains and rings; measuring cups and spoons; storage containers with lids; comforters and sheets; mattress pads; brooms and dustpans; vacuums; plastic hangers; car seats, booster seats, highchairs and strollers; teapots and coffee pots; Band-Aids; and umbrellas.
