The Deck Your Chair Challenge is a fundraiser supporting the Deck The Chairs that showcases creativity with participants transforming ordinary chairs into pieces of art. The first-place chair in each of the three divisions, student, amateur and professional, will receive a cash prize.
“The purpose of the challenge is to promote inspired thinking and creative problem solving, while raising awareness for our annual holiday event in December,” said Executive Director of Deck The Chairs, Kurtis Loftus. “It’s a great opportunity for contestants to show off their talents, have fun and possibly win some cash.”
The contest runs from March 1 - May 1. The entry deadline is April 26. Winners will be announced at the second annual Chair Affair held at Casa Marina Hotel on May 8. Deck The Chairs (DTC) promotes the arts and encourages creative collaboration. In 2013, DTC launched an annual holiday tradition for the community to decorate and display lifeguard chairs. The event focuses on design and build and provides free public space for artistic expression including dance, music and theatre.
