COA’s River House announces September classes and events

The following programs will be held at COA’s River House, 179 Marine St., St. Augustine, beginning in September. Classes are one to five weeks long and begin the first week of September. Help with Medicare Questions: Second Monday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon. Reserve a spot with a SHINE volunteer by calling 904-209-3655.

Mahjong Open Play: Bring your mahjong game and play. Mondays from 1 to 3 p.m.

Fraud Prevention: This program will address common frauds. What to look for and how to avoid them. On Monday, Sept. 18. From 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

COA Travel Club: Monday, Sept. 11, at 2 p.m. Go to coasjc.org for more details.

Healing Hearts: A group for grieving a loss. Meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

One-on-One Tech Help: One-on-one help for your smart phone, tablet or laptop questions. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays, Sept. 5, 12, 19 and 26; and Thursdays, Sept. 7 and 21. Call 904-209-3655 to reserve a one-hour spot.

Happy Hookers: Join this social group as they crochet, knit, etc. Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Widow to Widow: Widows support group. Wednesdays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Open Board Game Play: Bring your own or use one provided. Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m.

STA Strong BHOF (Bone Health & Osteoporosis Foundation) Education Group: This group meets bimonthly to learn about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. The next meeting is on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Book Club: Join others in reading and discussing various books. Call 904-209-3655 for book title. First Wednesday of the month from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Open Card Play: Bring your deck of cards and socialize over a friendly card game of your choosing. Every Thursday from 12:15 to 3:15 p.m.

All You Need to Know About Cremation Pre-planning: Thursday, Sept. 7, at 12:30 p.m. This is a lunch-and-learn seminar, so pizza and drinks will be provided.

Spouse in Nursing Home? Do You Have to Go Broke? with Megan Wall of Legal Aid on Friday, Sept. 22, from 10 to 11 a.m.
