COA’s THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center announces March schedule

The following programs will be held at COA’s THE PLAYERS Community Senior Center, 175 Landrum Lane, Ponte Vedra Beach, beginning in March. Most classes are four weeks long and begin March 1.  Note: The center will be closed on Friday, March 29, in observance of Good Friday. Lunch — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting March 5. Noon to 1 p.m. Registration required a week in advance and fee required: $5 per meal.

Lunch — Thursdays: Four weeks starting Thursday, March 7. Noon to 1 p.m. Registration required a week in advance and fee required: $5 per meal.

Duplicate Bridge: Five weeks starting Friday, March 1. Noon to 3 p.m. Fee required: $2 per person, per Friday. You must have a partner. No duplicate bridge on March 29.

Line Dancing Class: Instructor Will Oglesby teaches you many different line dances with a good selection of music. Open to all adults and experience levels. Four weeks starting Wednesday, March 6. 4 to 5:30 p.m. Fee required: $37.50 per month or $9 per class.

Tap Dance Class: Instructor Ginny Wirzbicki brings much experience to this style of dance and encourages all different levels of dance to learn. Five weeks starting Friday, March 1. 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fee required: $25 for the month or $6.25 per class.

Hisshin Sumi-E Painting Class: Traditional East Asian brush painting. This class typically meets once a month. This month the date is Thursday, March 14. Class is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Fee required: $3 per person.

Acrylic Painting: Four weeks starting Wednesday, March 6. 9 a.m. to noon. No fee required. Instructor on site Wednesday, March 13.

Caregiver Support Group (Free Program): 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 6. The group is open to all adult caregivers; meets once a month, on the first Wednesday of each month. Register with the Alzheimer’s Association at 800-272-3900.

Chair Exercise — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, March 5. 9:30 to 10 a.m.

Tai Chi: Four weeks starting Thursday, March 7. 10-11 a.m.

Canasta — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, March 5. 10 a.m. to noon.

Mexican Train Dominoes: Four weeks starting Tuesday, March 5. 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Ask a Nurse: Four weeks starting Tuesday, March 5. 10 to 10:30 a.m.

Bingo — Tuesdays: Four weeks starting Tuesday, March 5. 1-2 p.m.

Bingo — Thursdays: Four weeks starting Thursday, March 7. 1-2 p.m.

Social Bridge: Four weeks starting Wednesday, March 6. 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Board Game Playing: Rummikub, Scrabble and more! Four weeks starting Wednesday, March 6. 10 a.m. to noon.

Wii Bowling: Four weeks starting Thursday, March 7. 10-11 a.m.

Technical Help for Phones and Computers: Available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

Fraud Prevention: Join Kisha Wilkinson, the community outreach coordinator for the Consumer Protection Division of the Office of the Attorney General of Florida. Learn how to avoid scams and fraud in this informative presentation. 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 5.

Lou Parisi Sings! Enjoy the vocal stylings of one of our favorite entertainers; he’s our favorite piano man! 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 7.

COA Travel Club Meeting: Learn about upcoming trips planned by the COA Travel Club. The COA Travel Club for St. Johns County seniors was created in partnership with Bartimus Travel Group of St. Augustine. 11 a.m.to noon Tuesday, March 12.

Senator Rick Scott’s Mobile Office Team: This is an opportunity for constituents who may be experiencing issues with a federal agency. The team regularly assists residents with the VA, Social Security, Medicare, USCIS, etc. 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 14.

ADT Alert Devices: Learn about ADT’s medical/fall alert systems that can help you to continue living independently while comfortable and content inside or outside your home. Special rates are available; talk to the local representative for more information. 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 19.
