As April marks National Volunteer Month, Community Hospice & Palliative Care reaffirms its dedication to promoting and celebrating the invaluable contributions of volunteers. Volunteers are the heart and soul of the organization, providing companionship and a compassionate presence to patients and their families during challenging times.

Throughout the month, Community Hospice & Palliative Care will spotlight individual volunteers and their inspiring stories through various social media platforms. These narratives will highlight the profound impact that volunteers have on the lives of those they serve and showcase the diverse ways in which they enrich our community.

To express gratitude for their selfless service, Community Hospice & Palliative Care will host a special Volunteer Appreciation Celebration at The University of North Florida. Attendees will enjoy a luncheon accompanied by heartfelt messages of appreciation from the leadership team, recognizing volunteers' exceptional dedication and commitment.

Ashley Howell, manager of volunteer services, underscored the contributions of the volunteers.

“In 2023, our volunteers collectively saved our organization over $1.2 million by generously dedicating more than 58,000 service hours,” she said. “With the steadfast support of over 600 volunteers, Community Hospice & Palliative Care touches the lives of approximately 1,500 patients each day, enhancing their well-being amidst the challenges of advanced illnesses. Our volunteers hold a central role in connecting patients with the care they need. Whether they're offering music therapy, engaging in art activities, providing comforting pet visits, or honoring our veterans, our volunteers embody empathy and serve as indispensable companions in the journey toward end-of-life care.”
