A longstanding supporter of Community PedsCare, a program of Community Hospice & Palliative Care, THE PLAYERS Championship recently presented children and families in the program with hundreds of holiday gifts.

“Each year, the PGA Tour staff personally shops for and provides Christmas gifts for hundreds of children in Northeast Florida,” said Jared Rice, executive director of THE PLAYERS.  “We’re pleased to support Community PedsCare through this Tour-wide initiative this holiday season. Giving back is at the heart of the PGA Tour and THE PLAYERS, and there is no better time than the holidays to put this into action, especially in our local community.”

This past October, THE PLAYERS was also the presenting sponsor of Community Hospice’s biggest fundraiser of the year, Halloween Doors & More, which benefits the Community PedsCare program. Every year, THE PLAYERS hosts children and families from Wolfson Children’s Hospital and Community PedsCare for a fun-filled day at the tournament.

Through continuing community partnerships such as Wolfson’s Children’s Hospital, Nemours Children's Specialty Care and the University of Florida-Jacksonville, Community PedsCare offers palliative care for children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, along with hospice care for children and their families who seek to focus on life and living.

Since its inception in 2000, for nearly half of Community Hospice’s 40-year legacy, Community PedsCare has been providing comfort and care to enhance quality of life for patients from prenatal (before birth) to age 21. The program supports the specialized needs and medical care of the child, their parents and siblings, other family members, caregivers, classmates and teachers.
