Cypress Village car show brings classic cars, community together

Cypress Village’s third annual car show roared to life with more than 20 stunning vehicles on display, delighting residents and visitors alike.

The car show featured a remarkable lineup of vehicles, each with its unique charm and story. Among the standout cars were a 1941 Ford V8, 1939 Ford Woodie, Ferrari 360, 1927 Ford Roadster, 1953 Surf Woodie Deluxe, 1974 VW Bug, Ford Starliner, 1957 Chevy and a custom 1955 Ford.

One of the show’s highlights was the Resident's Choice Award, which allowed attendees to vote for their favorite vehicle. This year’s award went to Mike Buddeke’s meticulously restored 1932 Hudson. The car, steeped in history, was originally owned by Buddeke’s uncle, a drag racer in the ’60s in the Chicago area. After his uncle’s passing, the car was left to Buddeke in a state of disrepair. Determined to honor his uncle's legacy, Buddeke embarked on a coast-to-coast restoration journey, from Florida to California, transforming the Hudson into a show-stopping masterpiece. The only original piece from his uncle's era is the 1964 Corvette motor, a testament to the car's storied past.

Buddeke expressed his gratitude for the recognition, saying, “This car represents a family legacy, and I'm thrilled to share it with the Cypress Village community.”

In addition to the impressive vehicles, attendees enjoyed delicious treats and refreshing beverages from the food trucks Smart Drinks and Doodlebops Ice Cream.

Cypress Village extended its thanks to sponsors Raymond James and Concierge Care for their support.

Attendees were treated to a blend of classic tunes and contemporary hits, featuring live entertainment by musician Robbie Trice.

“We are thrilled with the success of our third annual car show,” said Ty Morgan, executive director. “It’s a wonderful opportunity for our residents and the community to come together and enjoy a day of fun and camaraderie. We’re grateful to everyone who participated, from the car owners to our Community Life Services team and vendors, for making this event truly special.”

Cypress Village’s car show continues to be a beloved tradition, bringing together people of all ages to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of classic and modern cars.

Several residents have said that the car show brings back fond memories from their youth. One resident even pointed to a classic car and remarked, “That’s the car my boyfriend picked me up in when I was 17!”

The event not only unites the community but also pays tribute to the dedication and passion of car aficionados like Buddeke, whose stories and vehicles honor family legacies and cherished memories.
