Dial-a-Ride spreads the love on Valentine’s Day

Volunteers and board members helped spread some love to Dial-a-Ride customers for Valentine’s Day. Roses were handed out to riders Feb. 13 and 14 to let them know how much the team loves them and cares about them. The response, they report, was overwhelming.

One board member said he was “inspired and proud of the efficiency, organization, professionalism, gratitude and genuine joy expressed by both the drivers and every customer that we interacted with.”

A volunteer rode along with her husband, a driver for Dial-a-Ride. She said, “Handing out roses made my day and from what I was told made others’ day, as well.”

Dial-a-Ride also arranged to deliver roses to regular riders at their homes, those who may not have ridden on those two days. That was such a nice surprise for them. Every rider and recipient of rose delivery was appreciative.

Dial-a-Ride is a free transportation service of Beaches Council on Aging. It takes seniors and disabled adults anywhere they wish to go in the beaches area from Mayport through to Ponte Vedra Beach, including Mayo Clinic and Cypress Village. A $5 donation is requested for the round trip, but no one is turned away.
