Guide for tracking tax dollars released

The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller has released the fourth edition of the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR), “Tracking Your Tax Dollars: A Guide to St. Johns County’s Finances.”

The Popular Annual Financial Report highlights key information from the detailed Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), which provides an annual overview of the county’s finances and budget.

Designed to be concise and easy to read, the PAFR presents a clear picture of St. Johns County’s financial situation for fiscal year 2022-23, including how tax dollars are collected, spent and invested.

“This guide provides St. Johns County with easy access to evident insights into how tax dollars are managed,” said Clerk Designee John Rundgren. “‘Tracking Your Tax Dollars’ helps residents understand the county's financial position with full transparency, strengthening the integrity of our services and our commitment to serving the community.”

The 20-page booklet also presents economic information and notable trends on demographics, housing, taxes and more. Covering financial data for the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, 2023, the PAFR emphasizes visibility to county tax dollar management.

The PAFR is available online at stjohnsclerk.com/pafr. Printed copies can be requested at the St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller, Richard O. Watson Judicial Center, 4010 Lewis Speedway, St. Augustine.

The ACFR includes the financial statements for the Board of County Commissioners, Clerk of the Court, Property Appraiser, Sheriff, Supervisor of Elections and Tax Collector. The full report is accessible online at stjohnsclerk.com/acfr.
