K9s United, a Jacksonville-based nonprofit dedicated to advocating for and supporting K9 law enforcement officers, held its annual Law Enforcement K9 Competition on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Bishop Kenny High School Athletic Complex in Jacksonville. In its second year, the competition showcased the remarkable skills of police dogs that protect and serve their communities and offered families a fun-filled day of activities.
Attendees had the opportunity to witness the fearless dogs in action as K9 law enforcement teams from across the state of Florida competed in a timed obstacle course to showcase their impressive speed, strength and skills through various exercises, including wall jumps, tunnel crawls, bailouts, apprehension and more. Awards were presented to the top three K9 competitors in each category – fastest, hardest hitting and obstacle course – and an overall Top Dog was crowned at the conclusion of the event.
The award for top dog went to Officer Scott Stevenson and K9 Tyr, Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Attendees also enjoyed engaging activities, including a rock-climbing wall and inflatable games, along with food and beverages from popular food trucks and more.
All proceeds will benefit K9s United to help fulfill the nonprofit’s mission to support working law enforcement K9s.
Many law enforcement agencies unfortunately do not have the funding needed to provide their K9 units with the vital resources they require. K9s United, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, helps to fill that void by supporting law enforcement K9s who detect, protect and serve local communities by giving them the best equipment, trainings and services. K9s United also actively advocates for legislation and has successfully championed two bills into Florida law to help protect these working dogs.
